Smart Soldering Iron is Not Heating
Your Smart Soldering Iron has become cool about its job. You want it to warm up to the task. Let's walk through the issues.
The Iron is Not Plugged in Properly
- Make sure the iron is plugged in fully to its power source.
- Sometimes, the locking connection on the iron side can be improperly seated, make sure the cable connecting to the iron is in snugly.
- Sometimes, flipping the connection with the Smart Soldering Station can fix the issue.
- Be sure that the Tip is snuggly plugged into the Iron. The orange indicator light will blink at you if the Tip isn't properly seated.
The Power Source is Insufficient
- Make sure the power source has enough juice to heat the iron.
- You need at least 20 watts available through USB-PD to allow the iron to heat.
- Note that using low wattage power sources will disable idle mode to allow the soldering iron to reach full temp.
- Check that your USB port can deliver that kind of power. Not every USB port marked with the PD (power delivery) symbol can deliver 20 Watts, but many can.
- If your power source is supplied by a battery, check to see that the battery is charged.
- You need at least 20 watts available through USB-PD to allow the iron to heat.
- Ensure that you're using the supplied USB-C cable or a similar "full-featured" (capable of data transfer & 100W power output) cable.
- Ensure that the cable is not damaged.
The Switch is Not On
There is a small switch located on the iron body immediately in front of the power cord connector.
- When the switch is off (slider toward the power cord) a blue indicator will show next to the switch. The iron will not heat with the switch in this position.
- When the switch is on, an orange indicator will show next to the switch.

Error Codes are Present
If using a FixHub Portable Power Station:
- Power up the FixHub Portable Power Station by pressing and holding the blue button for 3 seconds.
- Press the silver selector knob to enter the settings menu.
- Turn the selector knob to scroll to the Error Codes entry.
- Press the knob to select them
- Turn it again to scroll to Clear Logs.
- Press the silver knob again.
- The display will show Error Log with N/A below it.
- Press the blue button to exit.
If you aren't using a Portable Power Station, you can simply unplug the iron, which should clear the internal faults.
The Iron has a Fault
If the iron is showing a series of 3 blinks of the Touch Safe Indicator LED (orange or blue) with a pause between the blinks, the iron has a fault. Sometimes this fault can be caused by the Tip connection not being mounted properly (resulting in orange blinks).
- Make sure the iron is cool.
- Then, unplug the tip by pulling it from the handle of the soldering iron.
- Plug the tip back in snugly. The part of the tip that has text on it should sit flush with the handle.
If reseating the tip did not solve the problem, you will need to contact support for further information.
