Smart Soldering Iron Is Not Turning On

Your Smart Soldering Iron shows no signs of life while plugged in, primarily the Touch-Safe indicator LED ring near the grip is not lighting up.

The Switch is Turned Off

Although the LED ring on the grip should light up blue while the iron is plugged in and turned off, the first thing you should do is to try turning the device on. If the tip of the iron heats up, it's likely that there's an issue with the LED indicator ring. If this is the case, contact support for assistance.

The Power Source is Not Providing Power

The Smart Soldering Iron may not be receiving the requisite power supply for functionality. Investigate the following to ensure you're getting enough power.

  • If you are using the FixHub Power Station, check to see that the charge state is above 5%. Below that the unit will not provide power.
  • If you are using the FixHub Power Station, try plugging the iron into the other USB-C socket on the front of the Power Station. The problem could be a faulty USB-C socket on the FixHub.
  • Try using a different USB-C cable with the iron. The problem could be a faulty or damaged cable.
  • If you are plugged into a different power source, check to see that the outlet you are using is providing power.

USB-C Connection Badly Seated

It's possible that the USB-C connection to the iron or the power source are causing problems.

  • Check that the connector is fully seated.
    • Make sure the locking collar is engaged. Sometimes, if the tab of the collar doesn't find the groove of the iron hilt, it can prevent the cable from being fully plugged in.
    • If the connector will not fully seat, be sure to go to the next point below.
  • Try flipping the USB-C connector over on the soldering iron and reinserting it.
  • Check for debris in the cable and socket.
  • Check for damage to the cable or socket, like bent contacts, burnt pins, or corrosion.
  • Try the cable without the locking collar; reverse it end for end.
