A-Stock vs. B-Stock

Understanding A-Stock and B-Stock Items at iFixit

iFixit offers a range of parts, tools, and kits that may come labeled as A-Stock or B-Stock. These labels help customers understand the cosmetic and functional condition of the items before purchasing.

A-Stock: Excellent Condition

A-Stock items are in nearly pristine condition and may show little to no signs of previous use. These items are fully functional and suitable for those who want a product that looks and works like new.

Examples of A-Stock Items:

  • Displays: One or two faint scratches on the glass, not visible when the screen is turned on.
  • Cases: Great condition with minimal to no cosmetic wear.

B-Stock: Minor Cosmetic Imperfections

B-Stock items are also fully functional, but they may show signs of light cosmetic wear. These are great for customers who value function over appearance and want to save money.

Examples of B-Stock Items:

  • Displays: Multiple faint scratches that do not affect visibility, or up to two deeper scratches under 10mm.
  • Cases: May show light chipping, scratches, or slight wear on components like the trackpad.
  • Toolkits (e.g., Minnow Driver Kit – B‑Stock): Packaging may be damaged, but tools inside are verified to be complete and functional. Replacements are provided for any subpar components.

Note: All B-Stock toolkits are covered by iFixit’s Lifetime Guarantee.

Choosing Between A-Stock and B-Stock

  • Choose A-Stock if you prefer items that are visually flawless and in like-new condition.
  • Choose B-Stock if you’re okay with minor aesthetic imperfections and want a more affordable option.

Both A-Stock and B-Stock items are backed by iFixit’s commitment to quality and functionality.
